BassPro "Price Match" vs Academy Sports

Man, Bass Pro is a total joke. They offer a "price match" only for exact items.......so I'm shopping some waterfowl ammo. Check out the difference here for the EXACT SAME STUFF
3" 12 gauge Winchester Super-X Drylok #3, 1-3/8 oz.

BassPro, case of 250 shots (AKA: ten boxes) @ $309.99

Academy, (10) boxes @ $20.99/box = $209.90

Because BassPro only offers the case quantity online, rather than the per-box quantity....they won't match. So instead of buying a $309.99 case of ammo, then shipping it to the store only, I can order from Academy.

Guess what??? Academy will ship directly to my shop, so I won't have to go pick it up anywhere.

Thanks Academy!

I have done more shopping at academy when it comes to hunting/fishing gear then anywhere else for a while now.

If not them then Amazon lol

Don't look at bass pro or cabelas as much unless they have something good on sell.

Academy is one of my favorite stores of all time, I might buy a smoker from them, saw one tonight that looked real good, could make a lot of jerky on it too

I've also been very favorably impressed with Academy.

But I'll tell you the real "sleeper" far as most of you are concerned:

Final Flight Outfitters
http://www.finalflight.net

At least regarding deer & waterfowl hunting, they have a better inventory and lower prices than Academy,
and are a Tennessee based company.

Final Flight Outfitters does not carry fishing stuff,
but they blow Bass Pro away with hunting stuff.

Both had a lowrance unit I wanted, academy was well over $100 cheaper. Called bass pro just to make sure they would honor it. Get to the store with paperwork showing academy price and they would not honor it. Said they would lose money at that price. Man was I pizzed off.

I don't find myself at Bass Pro much anymore.

I stop by Academy Sports about once a week.

They were a tndeer sponsor at one time.
Been trying (begging) them to get back on board but no luck thus far.

They do have a VERY impressive inventory of guns too.
Not as many guns as clothes but it's close. :)

Really really great folks too.

I love Academy. I won't go in Bass Pro unless someone gets me a gift card.

I work beside the Bass Pro downtown and I think I have been there maybe 3 times and maybe bought some 22 ammo but that's about it. I don't purchase much from there anymore.

They have more in stock guns and hunting clothing than the Nashville Bass Pro.

Their operation has many parallels to the early days of Jim & **** Cabela
when they had but a single store, but were really getting attention from those who recognized the differences between quality inventory/service and junk inventory/service. They carry top of the line full inventory, such as Millennium and Summit tree stand products, not the Wal-Mart stuff.

Final Flight is a family-run business, and the owners are avid & accomplished sportsmen.
They built their retail store in the middle of the country, on land they owned, and it would appear none of the major retailers (such as Bass Pro, etc.) can compete with Final Flight's low overhead. Can only imagine what the city taxes must be for a Bass Pro like the one at Opryland.

Bet it's cheaper at Midway. :)
The town, not the company, for the unimformed. ;)

They literally started out by selling stuff out of the trunk of their cars.

You could always sell them for a small loss.
Seen people do that before.

I gave one away at Gander Mountain one time LOL

Yep, like said earlier, reminds me of Mr. Cabela getting his start selling fishing flies from his garage via mail order.

"Midway" is an unincorporated community in the middle of Obion County.
Where Final Flight is located, they are very close to the Obion River Bottoms,
so is a convenient location for their waterfowl field trials.

Will not surprise me if some day these guys are to waterfowl field trials
what Ames is to bird dog trials.
