I've been fishing a lot of bass tournaments in michigan this year. The fishing have been pretty good and there have been some big fish caught. I'd say the average 5 fish limit that wins the tournaments is around 14-15lb. I was just wondering if any of you fish tournament and what the average bass 5 fish winning weight is? I realize it greatly differs from lake to lake, but i'm just looking for an average. I have hunted tennessee my whole life, but have only fished for trout there. I was just wondering what kind of bass TN lakes produce compared to michigan.

I've been fishing a tournament series this year. On one of TN's lakes in southern middle Tn. We fish one tournament a month from Feb. to Sept., it has been taking at least 16 lbs./ 5 fish to win each tournament. Up until last month all smallmouth has been winning.

I guess it really matters what lake you're fishing. If I was fishing the detroit river or lake st.clair, the winning poundage would be around 20. Seems like you guess have some pretty good sized bass down there!

On Chickamauga around 22-23 lbs is winning. In April, one tournament the winning weight was 31.95. I think it was a new lake record, not 100% sure though.

I wouldn't feel safe with less than 28lb on KY lake. I've been beat with 27.22 this year. Got beat with 26.03 last Saturday! :)

Most of the winning bags have been 26lb since the spawn was over. It's crazy but the weights actually went up, post spawn this year.

Chickamauga is putting out some big 5 fish weights in tournaments this year. I have fished two TX's that 25+ pounds won it.

I hold two weekly tournaments on different parts of Chickamauga and they are both 3 fish limit. The average winning weights are right around 11.8 on the lower Chickamauga and 9.89 up on the Hiwasee river end of Chickamauga for 3 fish. So that would equal a 5 fish bag of 18.63 lbs on the lower Chick and 16.48 lbs on the upper Chick.
