I have a place that is loaded with turkeys that I have spent all my effort and time scouting that I have permission to hunt only to find out today that hunt does not include turkey hunting, isn't that awesome to find out on opening day. Now I have no other real prospects

Turkey is big game so apparently its deer only.

Not that I am some great turkey slayer but I have found the challenge of hunting pressured birds from public land quite fun.

Might be worth a try...
