shot my new bow thru chrono today.my assassin shot 276 my draw is 26 inches, shooting 400 grain Easton st excel. I am not obsessed with speed knowing that my draw length limits that. my question is how much could I gain by going to a lighter arrow. the arrows that I shoot now fly just fine and the bow shoots great. just wondering how much lighter would I need to go to tell difference in speed?

Any speed you will gain by going to a lighter arrow, will be negated by the loss of downrange kinetic energyjust leave it alone is my advice. 276fps is nothing to sneeze atespecially with a short draw.

Your poundage will have a greater affect on arrow speed than the weight of the arrow will. For example, on my tournament bow 1/2 pound of draw weight results in a change of speed by 5-6fps. A 35 grain change in arrow configuration resulted in a 10fps change.
