Got my lower receiver yesterday for my AR build. What parts would you recommend? Really like the Spikes Tactical stuff. I have heard to spend your money on the barrel and BCG. Any other things I need to be thinking about?

The PSA kits fit that lower really well,I may be wrong but I can't imagine the pins and springs being much different from brand to brand ,most likely all are made at same factory.Triggers are probably the exception. As far as BCG,I would go with milspec and get it included with upper assembly that way you shouldn't have any head space issues.I have seen stainless spring kits that cost more than standard, but not sure if they would be worth exra cost, biggest thing would be what you plan for rifle, keeping forever or possible get tired of it and trade,if keeping buy best parts available if possibly trading just buy standard parts otherwise you will never recoup what you put into it.JMO

Thanks. The purpose is just general plinking and maybe going after a yote or hog every now and then. I realize .223 is not ideal for hogs which is why phase 2 is to build a .300 Blackout upper to interchange for hogs and I think it would be cool to deer hunt with it also.

As far as long term plans at this time I cannot answer that. I have never been one to sell or trade guns just usually buy more but at some point external forces (wife) begin to reek havoc on that plan.

Personally with what you have said I would get the PSA lower build kit without trigger set then get a aftermarket trigger assembly. As far as the upper its whatever your wanting to spend, but if you buy milspec assemblies they are normally good shooters and are typically reliable also.I would not get caught up in brand name stuff, find what you think you like and want to spend then check out the reviews on one of the many AR forums.AR's are definitely fun to play with and are good hunting rifles too.
