What a vintage 1963 Wing Recurve, 66" in really good shape is worth? I'm about to fix-up my brother's old bow that he got at age 15 and give it back to him! He hasn't shot it or any bow in the past 24 years, but I thought this would be a great way for me to say thanks for being the brother he is...
Question: Would taking the original finish off the bow make it lose some value? Or is it just a good bow not really worth more than just his memories of shooting in the State Tourney?

I would only refinish it if it is really rough, and only if you can do it right. Folks who do great jobs at refinishing generally get a good price for their bows.

I would do like Jim said and post a question on www.Tradgang.com for a value.

Update: I put a new string and Bear-hair rest on the old Swift Wing and shot it this weekend! Sweet and Double Sweet!! By the way the Tradgang site is pretty good. I found out just by reading other posts that Bob Lee started Wing Archery from his Den in the late 1950's in Houston, TX. the sticker on my brother's bow says Houston. May not do the re-finish without talking it over.
