Any thoughts or considerations on trapping public land?

Not looking for anything specific, just anything in general, thoughts, advice, suggestions, do's and do nots if your gonna trap public land/wma's.

Keep in mind who else may be using the area. A buddy almost had his lab get into someone's conibear set for beaver while he was duck hunting.

Oh for sure! I do have 1 conibear trap but I bought it to dispatch a trapped animal rather than using it to trap. Ive got a few dp's and some live cage traps that Im using right now.

I purchased a few DP's and few live traps as we had coons getting into the chickens - that did the trick. I've considered trying public land trapping with them as well to see how they do.

Find all of the specific rules and follow them. Each WMA may have a few extra rules that only apply to that specific WMA.

Make sure you hide your sets well. If you use a golf ball on your DP sets. It will be noticeable to others and might wind up missing.
