Any Ideas on what the band is for?

I have several pictures of this Wild Turkey that appears to have a leg band. Any idea as to why it would be banded?

It travels with several other birds that don't have leg bands.

When they started trying to re stock turkeys in tn they banded them like geese and ducks. Very cool picture!

It's a Medical Alert band. He's probably allergic to lead.

I have a band from the original stocking in Haywood County, stocked sometime around 1980-81, killed in 1985 going on memory, bird was killed about 7-8 miles west of where it was released, so I was told

doesnt look like a fish and wildlife band. looks very wide, maybe its just the pic. I got one from a bird from Shelby forest years ago. mine is just like a federal band, but says twra.

Yeah I agreed about young birds, but when you see the "old Coots" trying to be a young bird, next thing you will see is "strutting in Spandex".
