Caught this 10+ last Fri on the Chic. Found a school of giants in 15-25 ft of water and whacked them pretty good, with this being the biggest and several 6+ thrown in. Went almost all day and was struggling until we pulled on the right ledge about 2 pm. My son had a Tourn there the next day, and like the day before, they didn't show up until 1:50 and we had to leave at 2:20. Caught one 5 1/2 and lost 2 more over 5 before we had to leave for weigh in.

That is a toad. Congrats! You aren't supposed to work on them that hard in practice. :)
I hear ya.I tournament fished for 20 years.Gave it up several years back and sold my Bass boat when I had kids and just play around now with it.I learned pretty quick to go with my instinct and just fish for the toruneys cause when I pre fished I would catch a mega sack. When the tourney would arive I couldnt get a bite cause I sore mouthed them. All the tourneys I won or got money in I didnt pre fish at all.

Nice! Just curious Winchester. Why did you hit them so hard the day before? I usually find them and leave them like that till tourney day. Not Being a smart alec just wondering.

I was just giving Ol Winchester a hard time and ribbing him a little. I am pretty sure he has won his fair share of money over the years and knows how to practice.

I do try not to hurt them too bad in practice. I have had practice to help me and it to hurt me. It sounds like you found a mega school, and the timing was just not right the next day.

Super nice fish! We have a fishoff there in October and would love to catch one like that.

Yeah I know.Like my dad trained me and here is his quote.A good bass fisherman knows where and how to fish just by checking the water temp.Amen!!!!!!!!!!
