I think the store prices are only going to continue getting higher. I had originally thought mid-late summer, everyone would maybe have picked up what they want to hoard etc and things may calm. But from what I am hearing from distributors, dont think thats the case.

I say the price will come back down some, I dont see it until august or september. But they wont hit the old prices. I say at least 10-15% higher.
Ammo is starting to last a little bit longer on the shelves now. maybe just a hour or two longer, but soon enough it will go back to staying on the shelves. People will have together ammo for themselves. and all the gougers will no longer be able to sale for ridiculous prices.

I bought a bunch of stuff yesterday at Chattanooga Sportsman Warehouse, a hundred. 380, a 525 brick of .22, and 2lbs of powder, all at regular prices.
Actually got home & did a comparison on the powder I bought yesterday, and danged if it wasn't $5 cheaper/lb than what I bought last year from a small store.

Maybe I just got lucky. ....

Also, they had a LOT of ammo left.
There was a 20 person deep line at Customer Service (they keep the ammo there) when I first went in.
I had no intent of buying ammo--ya know, since ALL my guns got sold or stolen  -- but the line died down very quickly.

When I left they had a large stack of .22, a bunch of .45acp value packs, and a boatload of other caliber left.

Maybe some of the rush is over.
Academy had a little bit their shelves the other day as well.
Every time I've been, both places have been stripped clean for months until yesterday.

Some gun shops are high some have not changed, That tells me the manufactures are not going up on price but some gun stores are. so I feel like the prices will bethe same.

THIS!!!!

He's right. Ammo WILL come down but not as much as people think. Just look at what the factories have to pay in brass, lead, copper and ObamaCare. All of those prices will be passed on to the customer.

Sooner or later prices will drop back down. This has happened before but not to this degree so it will take longer. When everybody suddenly realizes they have a 12 lifetime supply of ammo for every gun they own, they'll slow down on paying 500% mark up for more and all this price gouging will stop. Of course there is always going to be the regular yearly price increase so that's going to be there no matter what. It's like back in the 90's when slick Willie enacted his Assault Weapons ban and the cheap supply of AK's dried up overnight. It seemed hopeless at the time but in a year or so they slowly became available again.

Of course prezident osama would make the unavailability permanent if he could so we cannot ever let our guard down.
