The shooting rail around it may be a little high for bowhunting, but another problem is they're only 12' tall. To buy the extension is another $30.
I actually bought another 2 for this year. What I'll do is pull one of the 4' rung sections from one stand and put it on the other, making one stand 8' tall (for longer shots with rifle on a field), and the other 16' tall (for muzzleloader and closer shots).
After they're set up, I run a brown tarp around the box portion of the stand to provide additional camoflage and to break the wind. Worked well last year.
You could lock them to a tree with a standard chain and padlock.
