Moraine River in Katmai. Spend a day floating , fishing and walking amongst the bears. You will see 40-50 in a day. JUST DO IT!

Probably Salmon and Halibut.
The wife has relatives in Anchorage and they are on top of the outdoor activities there.
I could fish everyday but the rest of our crew aren't into it as much as me.

Wasilla is pretty far from most of the fishing action. Mid to late August I would give Saltwater Safaris a call. They operate out of Seward which is about a 200 mile drive. That time of the year they usually offer combo trips.
1/2 day for Silvers and 1/2 day for halibut.
If you have any close friends in Wasilla ask if they have any close friends that live along the Parks Highway. Decent rainbow trout fishing as well as a silver or two.
Don't delay booking the charter. And most likely you will want to drive to Seward the night before and spend the night.
On the way home stop in Girdwood and eat dinner at the Double Musky Inn.
