Good Luck with it, my copper line cracked a few yrs back and the ac man just had to sauter (sp?) it back together and it was good to go.

best would be have a company check it out..look for oily areas if you have a bad leak you may find oil around the area then take a diluted dish soap and spray the area and if the leak is bad enough and you still have some refrigrant in the system it might make some bubbles..what makes you think there is a leak, have you been having to add freon,if so who ever has been adding the freon should have leak searched it

Yes, had to have it charged a month or so ago. It was freezing up back in October...we just didn't use it over the Winter.

I am fairly sure there is a leak...just interested to know how fast its leaking. Freon has gotten ridiculously expensive.

you might call the company that charged it and ask them if they done a leak search(since you dont know where the leak is they probably didnt)if one of my techs charged a unit without leak searching it i would send them out there to leak search it for no charge to the home owner.
yea r22 is getting crazy the price is going up weekly it is over 500 a jug now, this time last year it was about 200.

Sence EPA got involed you had better do a leak check find it and fix it. When I got into the busness R-22 was 50ct. lb.R-12 was 25ct. It is very hard to judge the leak rate unless you can do it over a period of time.

Thanks, I'll call the company back out...I was just hoping there was a DYI test.

There are dies but not just anybody should use them because there are some ifs and and buts. They are realy a last resort and some companys don't want you useing them in their equipment.
