I saw in Grant Woods Blog were he was thinking the drought would
cause acorn production to be down on his place making hunting better. But says after scouting this week he's finding lots of them on trees, what about anyone else?

I'm showing a couple of Trigg County hunting tracts tomorrow, with
lots of oaks on them, guess I'll check them out

THat's funny, my experience and field notes tell me that during dry years, I have seen some of the BEST acorn crops. I theorize that this abundance of acorns(seeds) is Natures way of securing survival of the species.

I think early spring drought would affect more so than early-mid summer drought. We had a very wet spring, and thank the Lord we have gotten some good rain this week. We had a month of terrible drought and heat, but I think acorns will be okay around here.

Pollenation occurs in April and early May. This year, with the early warm weather, most pollenation occured in late March to late April.
