I shot this morning at MSSA at the 600 yd line.
I took my 6BR and the 6/47 Lapua. Both shooting the new 108 Berger bullet.
I shot the 6BR first and shot a 3.667" 5 shot group centered well in the IBS 600 yd target.
It scored 50 points and my shooting buddy said that would have put wood on my wall.
The real story, and I knew how well it was shooting was the 6/47.
I shot a 5 shot 2.564" group at 600 but the best 4 measured 1.8".
Thats more like it.......

We do not currently shoot registered IBS sanctioned matches.
My shooting buddy has gone to St. Louis, and to Aurora MO. shooting 600 and 1000 yd IBS matches.
I bought IBS 600 and 1000 yd targets to encourage our shooting group to start this at our range.
My buddy said the score I shot if it had been done at a registered match, most likley would have been good enough for a trophy, easily for relay, and possibly the match. I personally like the small group trophy. That is where its at for me.

Good shooting Tim. I've been following the benchrest circuits for the past few weeks after knowing little about it. I was told by a top class competitor that a good group at 600 yards was under two inches. However, what I saw from the competitors was that most of them averaged 3-5 inch groups and that was with no wind at the shoot I've been watching. You need to come over to Oak Ridge for the 600 yards Benchrest Match next Saturday and let me see you shine. You'd do well against those guys. I'm tenatively planning for my start on the shoot next spring. We'll see if all cooperates.

I`d really like to make one of those shoots.
The annual antelope hunt is always the last Saturday in August, so this Saturday is already spoken for.
Our next club match is Sept 2nd, but I may not shoot it as the game they play is not real.
I hate to keep putting that many rounds in that length of time on my equipment.
Me bringing the IBS targets Saturday got some attention, and I feel it was a huge eye opener for some.
My plan is to get enough confidence to go to some out of town shoots.
It is a huge learning experience.
Let me know when the next match is please.

Oh yeah, you can too.
The rifles I built are not something you see often at the range. You could settle right behind one of those and stack them in there.
The level of handloading is the learning curve, and I have done much in that department this summer.

if that bullet has a .550 BC and you gettin over 3K from that case,,why couldnt I take the 6AI or 6-284 and get the rifle I was talkin about while back??

you`ve got 190 Berger 300 Win Mag ballistics from a 108 using what 40 grs of powder??

Yes the ballistics are there, but it was for "hunting" and the energy is not there. Look at the energy at 800 yds.

38.5 grains of powder, 3138 fps w/108, 29 5/8ths inch barrel.
