Today I will run my second 5K.....

It is taking place this morning in downtown Memphis and will finish on Beale Street.

It is to benefit the Ronald McDonald House and is a memorial to John "Baddog" McCormack, memphis icon radio personality, who died of cancer a couple of years ago.

It looks like the rain might just hold off until we get this thing done, so I'm hoping for a very successful event for all those involved.

I was asked to participate by a friend that is involved in putting this thing on. It was a no-brainer for me...

A great cause and a great man, imo.

It's going to be fun and a great experience.

Enjoy life.

Well...the race went well. There were approximately 300 participants. I was able to hook up with a 30 year old friend to try to keep pace and we finished 49 and 50. He finished a few seconds ahead of me. No official times have been posted as of this morning, but I had my stopwatch and timed myself at 28:24. The guy that won it also won in 2012. His time was 18:05.

It was abit cool, especially when we went down Riverside Drive, and then that hill coming from Riverside up Beale was a killer....lol.

I met up with some friends and made a new friend. The last picture is of those people and me in the middle, post race. I'm the one NOT drinking beer..lol. The young couple to the left are the thirty year olds I met almost ten years ago at a get together in Memphis. The bearded guy was my pace man. The other two are friends and not married or anything. The woman on the far right is my new friend. She won third place in her age group.

Lots of fun, great cause. We have already made plans to run the Harbortown 5K that benefits the Boys Club on June 7th, a night race along the river and maybe the Gibson Guitar 5K a week later...also a night race.

The starting line....My wife was able to get a pic of me at the start. Believe me, there were a lot of people out in front of those you see here. Some shot out like a cannon.....

Close to the end....I stayed with my buddy the best that I could....
