Coach Jones is really picking up recruits doing a great job 5-star RB Jalen Hurd Commits to Vols early for the 2014 season cant wait to see whos next

Hurd is rated by 247Sports as the number two running back in the nation and 10th overall player in the nation.

Many thought that Todd Kelly would cause a snowball effect and that certainly appears to be the case. Hurd is the Vols 5th commit to the 2014 class.

Hurd is a 63″/225 lb running back that holds impressive offers from Ohio State, Florida, Alabama and Georgia.

This commitment will show the rest of the country that Butch Jones is serious about winning at Rocky Top. Jones has an incredible amount of momentum right now and shows NO signs of letting up

He is an incredible talent. He has the ablility to not give up the angle to a tackler. He has good vision and has a loping stride that is deceptive in the open field. This is a good pick-up by the Vols that were not being considered by Hurd a few months ago.

Unless TN screws it up he aint changin his mind he has always wanted to be a Vol but Dudley turned him off. If I was Jones Id invite him to every practice. Keep him in the fold.

Ya'll be careful getting them hopes to high again! heheh Hate to see ya come crashing back down again.

Recruiting stats show that it is much easier to hold on to a committment than to flip one. Since it looks like he is an EE and will be enrolling in Dec., I have to like UT's chances on this one.

Amazing, truly amazing player.
Watched him in the state championship game this season, he is unstoppable.
Wow, what a pickup.
I believe the snowball is headed in the right direction again.

We will see how he fares against a team from the best district in the state this year - 7aaa. Siegel has them. Can't wait to see that one. They usually shut down these top rated recruits. Ask Blackman's Itavius Mathers how it went a couple of years ago.

One of the top recruits to ever commit to UT and the biggest dark cloud-lifting UT story since the hiring of Johnny Majors in '77. Huge is an understatement.

Todd Kelly, Jr. and Hurd are going to be two of our best recruiters over the next 11 months. Kelly Sr. and Terry Fair are getting a lot done too.

Im going to be beating down the doors of other recruits, letting them know the reasons why I committed, why Wharton and Kelly committed and why they should commit, too, Hurd said. I hope that my decision will help others see that Tennessee is going to be a team they will want to play for.

Looks like a good player but will have to learn not to run so upright or he will take some licks in the SEC....

I've seen him play and yes he is a 'DIAMOND" in the rough. But make no mistake he is a SEC caliber player. At least Muschamp, Meyer and Spurrier all thought so.... They all were recruiting him pretty hard. But he CHOSE Tennessee. For a 16-17 year old kid to set the all time state rushing record in his Junior year (while sitting out 3 or 4 games due to an injury)I think his talent and ability or his running style is not much of a concern(before you start dogging him about the injury it was a lull in the schedule and the Coaches did not want to risk aggravating a nagging injury in a cluster of games they felt sure they would win without him. They did win without him, too. He healed up was ready to go for the run up to and through the playoffs, injury free. Right decision on the Coaches part. Tremendously unselfish on his part. Imagine what his total yards would have been had he played against these teams that Beech beat without him???).

Tennessee High Schools have produced some great running backs down through the years. Many went to Knoxville to play College ball a few went out on West End in Nashville, some played in the state of Alabama, some in Florida, I remember one kid that was a big deal at Oklahoma, and he topped all of them with only 3/4 of a season as a Junior. He's a good kid, well behaved, no troubled past, so please don't try to tear this young man down because he chose to go a school you don't like. He is a good kid with a bright future. Anything can happen, but do the right thing for once and cheer this kid on. I would have, even if he had chosen Florida or Alabama or even Vanderbilt.
