Going to build a heavy rifle in .243 to shoot 105 gr amaxs out to 1000 yards. what do u guys think. I know their are better choices but been buying supplies for the .243 for awhile. it will be a savage 110 action .Any experience with either ? thinking I will go with a 32" barrel. Also looking for a chote ultimate varmint stock for a savage 110 if any one has one for sale. thanks.

The AI won't get you that much more velocity but you get less case stretch, some say better brass and barrel life plus the cool factor. Nothing wrong with the straight .243 either. They're are people shooting 20" barrels out to 1000 yds. I wouldn't go longer than 26". 32" is a lot unnecessary weight. On the stock, its up to you but a choate wouldn't be my choice. I plan on building a .243 AI on a 700 action, 20" barrel, HS Precision stock. I want to run a can so that's the reason for the short barrel, gonna be a nice coyote gun.

I can get 3,100ft/s easily out of my factory tube punched .243AI with 24" bbl. with the 105A-Max and 3,500ft/s with 80gr TTSX.
I just ordered a #2 Bartlein for a custom .243AI build.

Shooting the 105gr A-Max barrel life shouldn't be a problem. Below is a little info on the .243AI. Look at the Custom Rifle forum lots of info on there. The .243AI is very popular with those guys.

I want a .243AI
