I like the Hornady SST 55 grain. My nephew's have killed 5 or 6 and all but 2 have dropped with no tracking. My nephew killed a 7 pt last weekend and it was a perfect high shoulder shot with no exit. Found no blood but luckily found the deer piled up 75-100 yards away. I absolutely hate when one don't leave a blood trail but that's the chance you take with any at times I guess but just not much room for error with 223.

Bass pro in Kodak had several 223 deer rounds in stock last week.

A good friend of mine has 2 girls that have had very good results with Hornady American Whitetail in .223.

Personally, my son has killed deer with .223 and 350 Legend. I prefered the 350 Legend with Winchester Deer Season XP 150 gr. I have a Bear Creek AR upper and CVA Cascade in 350. Both group MOA or better.

Twist rate may limit your choices. A 7 or 8 twist would open up for the 77 tipped matchking
