1st sauger on purpose

Decided to become a sauger angler this year. Caught this one that was too short and lost one that was probably a keeper.
The one I lost was on the stinger hook and cut the loop. How can I prevent that from happening in the future?

Chain stringer? Congrats on your first! On purpose

i use a #10 or so snap swivel with a #5 treble on a 1 oz hair zig usually. i run the eye of the swivel down the jig head and secure it with a little piece of plastic worm. a lot easier than using line to attach the stinger.

Get you some single strand steel leader wire and make your own.

Got out again yesterday with my future son in law and had a little bit of luck.



Caught several drum as well. That catfish was 22 lbs and was caught on the stinger hook. The boy was pretty excited about that catch.
