The problem with 1.5oz in the 12ga cup is that you have to fill the wad up with fillers which in turn take away the efficiencies of the load. 2 3/4" 2oz load is perfect. A duplex load of 7.5/9 or straight load of 8s is bad news!!! Of course 9s will do the job.

So basically the next size up from 7.5 heavy dove shot?
Yes, but the ones I used I loaded myself. Looking online, looks like #7 lead is not that readily available in commercially loaded ammo. If you made me turkey hunt with 12G 2.75" lead shells. I'd be fine hunting with lead 7.5s but I would limit my shots to 30 yards, with 35 yards being absolute max due to a judgement error on my part in the heat of the moment.
