I have heard bad things about 130gr 270. I shoot 140gr Hornady SST, But can't find it. I can get 130gr in Federal. Any info on 130gr?

I use 130 or 150 depending on availability. I think the three boxes I have right now are 130, though different mfgs. I never had an issue with the 130's, usually either DRT or short run within sight.

I've heard both good and bad stories about the core-lokt bullet, but they have been around for such a long time and seem to be one of the more popular whitetail rounds so there is bound to be plenty of both good and bad reviews. A lot of their popularity no doubt comes from brand recognition and their relatively low price point. Sorry, I don't have any helpful info on the federal 130gr.

I started shooting the 130gr. core-lokt from my 700 when I was a kid, and it always got the job done. When I was a bit older and got a job, I experimented with some more expensive factory loads thinking I shouldn't be shooting the cheap ammo. Then I came to the realization that I had never had a bad experience with the core-lokt and that they shoot just fine out to any reasonable hunting distance that I would encounter in TN. Maybe I'm just lucky that my 700 likes them.

Ditto! Same experience here and I have been shooting my .270 for better part of 30 years. The 130gr core-lokts will flat kill'em if shot placement is where it should be.

I picked up two boxes of 30-06 150 grain Remington Core Lokt at Academy (Franklin TN) today morning. Went looking for 9mm and ended up with 30-06. Now I have enough to sight in before the season.
