Wouldn't call UCF a "small university". Has a student population of over 60,000 or 3x larger than UTK.

The Question begs to be asked. Are they pretty good? I know their record speaks for itself but they really don't play anyone for the most part. Pretty easy to have that sort of record when all they do is have cup cake games.

Didn't they beat Auburn or LSU in bowl game few years back?

I think auburn beat bama that year and bama won the national championship. The ucf dean then declared ucf national champs haha. Pretty funny stuff.

They ended the year with 3 straight wins over ranked teams

# 22 south Florida..... Put 49pts on them

# 16 Memphis..... Dropped 62 on them.

# 7 Auburn.... 37pts on them and beat them by 7, and AU did beat bama that year.

So yeah I say UCF was flying pretty high after that 13-0 season.

gus gonna have to get use to the fact that the aac is NOT the SEC. It does not come with the same prestige, limelight or spotlight. Nor does it command the same respect.

Bowl games mean nothing, unless you are in the top 4, maybe 5 bowl games. The rest are just for money. The players couldn't care less about winning. Heck, half the players opt out so they don't get hurt in hopes of getting drafted.

Let's bring this thread back to the start. Why does the OP even care about Gus Malzahn? Maybe it's because Gus and Joe Tiller are the only HCs to have beaten Nick Saban three times. Nick left the Big Ten to get away from Joe, and now Gus left the SEC. Auburn is stupid.
