Kinda not true. GW would have to see you personally shoot more than 3 in a day. You can be in possession of 9 (in the freezer or on your carrier, doesn't matter) except for the first day of season. You could have killed the other sets of 3 in days prior.

Sure wish Steve would come back or other agency personnel would come back on here, too much inaccurate info given out by people that don't know better. If you come off a hunt with more than your daily possession limits, you better have written proof of who killed the extra game. This is true for waterfowl as well as upland game animals (dove, grouse, rabbits etc.). You will get a ticket.

Let me clean this up.

It depends on where you are when you are in possession of the birds.

There is a field possession limit for migratory birds.

If you are in the field with more than the daily limit then you are subject to a ticket. Each bird or fish is a separate offense.
Most cases are for possessing illegally taken game and fish not killing or catching it.
