Seems like I've been watching empty skies for quite some time now. I think this was trip #6 without seeing a bird ( we hunt in VA too). Well, it finally happened. Glad to get this young girl her first ever birds. Hunting with a dog makes it much more enjoyable for me.

Good hunt. Nothing beats having a good dog, no matter what game you're after. Thanks for the story and photos.
My father and grandfather raised beagles. Had 19 at one time. Good bloodlines and didn't last when advertised.

Congrats on the hunt. I've had two labs and now a Boykin. She is the best so far! She's my right hand. Look forward to many days in the field with her. Their drive to hunt will keep them going when the body needs a rest so keep that in mind. Mine tore her CCL the Friday before the season started so is out of commission. Won't be the same without her. Where did you get her?
