    Buck bedding behavior

I never bought into the bed hunting methods-mostly because I remember reading some of your posts years ago about bedding habits, but I do still find those distinguished beds (particularly when by big rubs) to be pretty neat.

    Where’s the shed report

I’ve got 9 so far in Ohio. Not really a high number for the miles I’ve put on, but never know when you’ll find a giant here. Found two today after work within 15 minutes. Best walk I’ve had here. The atl has deer in the background. Also attached a shed I found this past weekend with a bit...

    Heck of a 2 1/2

Possibly. Aging from body characteristics is also only a best case “probable” assumption. In fact, he could’ve only been 2.5 and the other shed from 1.5 (but I doubt that kinda size for a 2.5 year old.. not that he was huge.. just a lot of long points and long beams)

A complete bummer the next two years as well.

    Heck of a 2 1/2

It can be entirely unpredictable-especially in TN. I have sheds off of a buck from when he was 2.5 and 3.5. 2.5 shed was chewed up but maybe 115” if symmetrical. 3.5 sheds were 165” with a 17” spread. 4.5 I predicted he scored 165-170” and last year at 5.5 only about 150”

I really didn’t expect to find any. I’ve found them in early January before but was really just out because I wanted to see if I could find a big deadhead before they all got picked up

A day early, but I couldn't help myself. Some Ohio finds. One under water, a decent fresh one, and my first velvet break off find (didn't keep.. they smell incredibly bad)

    Freak accidents can happen

I don’t post much anymore, but thought I would share this experience. i never took dead trees very seriously.. I used to ram into them to knock them over for fun. Today I learned that even touching one can be a serious mistake. I was hunting some public here in Ohio and after talking to seven...

Is this buck gone for good?

It’s amazing how different individual deer can be. Most bucks I get on camera return. Even in daylight often. Some deer out there must just be intensely good at avoiding us. I glassed a pretty nice buck and put a camera out and over three months never got a picture. Got several other deer I...

    Coolest buck yet

I remember you posting about this a long time ago. Oddities from body injuries recover-pedical damage not so much
