    Acorns

Wow! My lease south of the Cumberland Plateau has almost zero acorns! I've hunted 3 different locations in which I am surrounded by white oaks and have seen about a half-dozen acorns on the ground. Sure is making it hard to hunt. Only have three VERY small food plots and one of those is already...

    Acorn crops and early activity

Well, I have been in the woods only two weekends (opener and this past weekend) and I think I have seen 2 acorns on the ground and zero in a tree. Kind of disheartening, really. Still, plan on hunting and searching for at least one single tree that holds some.

    Getting old sucks

I stuck with it Friday and Saturday morning, but realized that I had left my cool weather gear at home and not at the lease, so I pulled out Saturday afternoon. I love to hunt, but being miserable in the stand would not have made for a good hunt.

    Rhea/Bledsoe Rut?

Looking like I may have the flu anyway! Probably be the next week before I venture. Thanks, hope it kicks back in a little before Christmas!

    Rhea/Bledsoe Rut?

Haven't been in a couple of weeks, but my buddy was at our lease earlier this week and saw one doe. Last time I was there - and even the two weeks before - there was some chasing going on, but mostly smaller bucks. Wondering if anyone has a report for recent action? Trying to decide if it will...

    what happened?

All things checked out fine - maybe knocked my sights off a tad. Going to shoot again tomorrow and fine tune things once again.

    what happened?

I love when a plan comes together - until something goes wrong! Saturday morning I had a nice doe come in just after 10:00 and she walked directly into a shooting window which my friend and I had trimmed earlier in the month. I drew and bleated to stop her, then released the arrow with a green...

    Armadillo’s

Yikes! I saw 5 of them on my lease in Rhea Co a few weeks ago after I got out of the stand and was checking a camera.

    I suck

As the others have said, I am inspired that you still bow hunt from a climber at 73! I am about 18 years behind you and hope I am still climbing then. As for the lost deer - it happens. I hate it also, as I don't ever want to injure one and then not be able to recover it, but I have done so -...

    Acorns

That's about what we had on our lease when I was there last week. Hoping those acorns grow some over the next few weeks!

    Strange creatures

Saw one about three weeks ago along Hwy. 68 around the McMinn/Meigs Co. line. I also think I remember seeing a dead one along Hwy. 411 in another part of McMinn earlier in the spring.

    Overhunting stands

    Absolutely! I appreciate your advice

    Overhunting stands

Thanks - have a similar place and wanted make sure I understood your strategy. I am planning to make myself be a little more mobile this year.

    Overhunting stands

Been cooped up recovering from minor knee surgery the past week and a half so I've been reading and re-reading things on here and began thinking about how to hunt smarter this coming season. Overhunting particular stands is one of my poor hunting habits and definitely want to be better and...

Where are you going to hunt?

Lease in Rhea Co. and possibly here in Blount Co. if things go right.
