    Explanation from the crappie experts...

One possibility. They may have been up shallow where the sun warmed the mudflat faster than the surrounding water. Often fish will leave the deeper water for a shallow mud flat on cold sunny days. The water on the flat often will warm up to a few degrees higher than the deep water.

    Venice, LA fishing

Venice is great but if you are going after trout/reds and not going offshore then Hopedale and pointauxchen will be much better and probably less expensive. Nothing like pitching a Baby-1 and waking it across the top of a shallow marsh pond while a big red hammers it on the surface !

    Central Florida Bass

Spur, The purpose of the bead and knot is to keep the sinker from getting too far from the worm. Sounds like your sinker stop would work just as good if not better. You want the worm to be able to snake through the pads, bumping and making a small ruckus. Then when you drop it through a hole...

    Central Florida Bass

Early morning or evening. Pop-R in baby bass color. Buzz bait in white. Spinner baits, frogs. Daytime. Rapala husky jerk if not too weedy. Beatle spin, frogs in the pads, or 6" rubber worm in red/shad purple/shad colors pumpkin and motor oil work well too. Get the long curly tail...

    Tennessee Salmon

dont know about TN trout but our Laker Trout guide told us that the lake trout will have different colored meat depending on what kind of forage they are eating. The pink/orange fish tasted better than the lighter colored fillets.

    creek fish in winter ??

We have a medium size creek say 10-15 yds wide in our area I like to fish. It eventually drains into center hill after meeting up with 2 other rivers. Last summer I caught smallies, rainbow trout (stockers) redeye, bluegills.. This year....nothing. Nothing bigger than a minnow following my...

    A good use for coyote

Is there a way to tie it "upside down" so the hook rides up during the retrieve? That would help a bunch with snagging bottom.

    Rock Island walleye

seems that everybody thinks the only place to catch the walleye at RI is by the sandbar. Talked with a TWRA/biologist and he said they move constantly in and out of that area. IF you get a stretch of stable weather, then you can get on a pattern. First big rain, pattern changes, start...

    Trolling question

trapper, In fast moving water, the recommended speed goes out the window. You have to try different speeds to see what they want. If you have a 3mph current and then run 1.5mph down stream (boat speed) your speed over ground is 4.5mph. If a fish is hiding behind a current break of some kind...

    Beef(deer) wellington?

Got a new cookbook and it has a delicious beef wellington recipe in it. Anybody ever make a Deer Wellington? (backstraps) Any adjustments to the recipe? The book says to wrap in pastry crust and cook to an internal temp of 125' then remove and let rest. Should be a perfect medium rare...

    Trolling motor battery

The onboard smart charger is the #1 thing you can do to make your battery last and get peak performance. Over or under charging a battery will cut the life of your battery. I did a lot of research before buying mine. Got the minnkota. Its small enough to mount under the console or in a...

Hope you have a great trip and post lots of photos.!! I never could get a bimini twist down in under 5 tries and 20 minutes. Learned to tie a spiders hitch instead. Much faster and still a 90% knot.
