Our Tennessee Vols are up to #2 in both polls.

I still doubt that they will make it to the Sweet 16. They still go through some long scoring droughts.
I tend to agree. All the talking heads are so high on Tennessee but they don't see them every game like we do. Also, as much as I like Coach Barnes, and as good of a coach as he is, his Tennessee teams have struggled in the big dance. He has forgotten more than I know about basketball, but I wish he would make them improve on their shot selection. Unless a guy is red hot those threes they take 6+ feet behind the arc should be stopped. I would also put a stop to some of the ill advised 3s early in the shot clock. We have guys throwing up bombs while closely guarded early in the shot clock. That shouldn't happen IMO.

Branes with another great regular season team at Tennessee.

Do you believe Will he get a team to the Elite 8 before his time coaching at Tennessee is done?

I thought he had one Elite 8 at Tennessee. Am I mistaken? I know the Grant Williams / Admiral Schoefield team should've went. Probably last year's team with ZZ and Kennedy Chandler too.

2010 Pearl took us to elite 8 and lost by 1 to Mich St.

Had to look it up.

Not sure if there's something he could change in resting players, whatever; but doing the same thing over and over just leads to the same result.

BTW, Barnes talks about the final 4 in the article I posted in other thread.

2018-2019 was the Grant Williams / Admiral Schofield year they made it to #1 in the country, but got upset in the sweet 16.

2019-2020, was a bad year 17-14 (9-9 in sec) tournament was canceled COVID

2020-2021, branes signed two 5* one & done players, finished 18-9 ( 4th in SEC) got put out in the first round by Oregon state a upset.

2021-2022 got in the tournament as a 3 seed, and got upset by Michigan in the 2ed round.

On a UT forum they showed all Nat'l Champs since KenPom has been around and all but 1 had an overall offensive efficiency rating in the top 10. I haven't looked after the Texas game (which should have helped) but UT was around 30 I think? We have the highest defensive efficiency rating since that's been around, which is pretty damn awesome, but the stats are interesting.

Just to be clear I'm not saying this is the end all be all. It'll all depend on the draw we get and rather or not we can survive an off shooting night in the tournament. We don't have to be elite every night with the way we play defense but we can't be awful, which we have been on a couple occasions.
