Bright, Colorful Calls?

I am always fascinated by this... waterfowl hunters spend hundreds of dollars, sometimes thousands of dollars, to buy or create the absolute best camouflage known to man. Clothing, waders, hats, caps, guns, boats and blinds are designed to hopefully become totally invisible to ducks. But, it seems these days the duck calls many hunters choose are the absolute brightest, gaudiest, even florescent colors known to man. WTH?!?!?

Mine are all black, clear, or muddled brown. I've often wondered the same thing. Also wonder why just about every call maker puts a shiny metal band on the bottom of the barrel of their calls.

If the color of the call in the hand flares ducks, the chances of them coming in with a drab colored call were probably vanishingly rare to begin with.

I wouldn't worry about the one in your hand but the numerous ones that people wear dangling around their neck as they're looking up at the ducks coming in

Personally, I shy away from gaudy calls. Not necessarily from the standpoint of flaring birds but I just prefer darker tones in acrylic and obviously in wood. To me, there is nothing better to have on your lanyard than a well crafted, good sounding wood call.

Yeah bright calls are dumb almost as dumb as mirrors on your eyes in the blind.. "I don't flare em I keep my head down.." well it looks like you're also a liar or just don't realize it...

I just replicate whatever I'm seeing on instagram in terms of this years hot color for my calls. I feel like the face paint contrasts nice with my white yeti and makes for better pics with my dead mergansers.

I have mostly wooden calls, my acrylics are black. But seriously if the bright duck call flares a duck, that duck probably should have been dead already.
