1) Is the new law actually in effect that you can conceal carry with or without a permit?
2) What is the best IWB holster for an M&P shield?

I have never carried IWB and I can't see how it can be comfortable at all?
Does it not irritate the crap out of you?

Gotta trip coming up and I plan on taking my pistol as I will have the entire family with me and I ain't gonna put up with no foolishness ie: thugs.

Ruger, I've found that comfort and concealability have more to do with body type than holsters. You'll get a million different answers. When I had a small waist I could carry almost anything in an inside the waistband holster and conceal it. When my waist got almost as big as my chest; I couldn't.

I use a Desantis 3 slot leather thumb break outside the waistband for my Shield and cover it with a shirt or jacket.

As far as carrying goes, you can carry without a handgun permit either concealed or open. But you would need to research where you can and can't carry. None of that applies if you are crossing a state line on your trip and don't have a permit.

Yes the new law is in effect and you can carry with out a permit.

I carry my shield in a Alien gear. Inside the waist holster. It's not bad uncomfortable but the key is it have a good belt. My problem is that with a subpar belt the gun/holster pulls my pants down.

Muddy River Tactical makes a fine kydex IWB holster. I own several. I actually ordered one for a Shield for my FIL for Christmas an he likes it.
I will say that I only find kydex holsters to be comfortable if worn at the 1-2 o'clock position (appendix tuck). Side or 4-5 o'clock not as much.

As pointed out, inside or out, requires a good belt to support the weight and hold the holster against you.

There are many options. I have "Beltman" 1.5" leather belts that I wear daily. One is 14 years old and one is 8 years old. They are very high quality and continue to serve me well.

Agree. I wear a Crossbreed. Makes a HUGE difference.

I used to carry mid and full sized pistols exclusively IWB. Then I retired and developed love handles. Now about the only thing I carry IWB is a J frame.

I do like holsters that spread out what they are doing like what 7mm08 posted. My favorite has been Milt Sparks. Something the size of a Shield probably doesn't need that much holster though.

Remember, a good belt is just as important as a good holster (if not more so).

I've got both but I find it so much easier and more comfortable to carry owb and just go with an untucked shirt. I grew tired of having 2 sets of pants, one that will accommodate the extra bulk of a gun and another set to accommodate just my fat. A good holster/belt along the lines of a Milt Sparks quality will hold your firearm up nice and snug against your body.

I am seeing more guys open carrying, but honestly I'm not very comfortable carrying this way or even seeing someone carrying this way. I'd rather be discrete.
