I don't have the self control. I usually say I'm going to do it all season and about 2 weeks in I'm like screw it I'm getting a bazooka and calling in an air assault.

But this year I haven't been but once so I might stick with the bow all year. We shall see.

I'm doing archery only this year. Reasoning (for me), my 20 acres isn't big enough to hold good deer if I start blasting. Most of my neighbors are non-hunters. I'm afraid it'll just push them off my property. I could be wrong.

Good luck. It's not an easy thing.

Standby for pictures of me and my deer with a rifle laying on him 😂

Anybody else carry archery tackle all year? I'm going on my second season bow only. Tough especially in the hills of the Appalachian mountains. Would love to hear if you do!
Finally made the commitment to archery only for this season. After bow season ends I pull the muzzle loader out to put meat in the freezer, but not this year.

I have hunted archery only almost my whole life. I think this is my 13th season using archery equipment. I have shot some in the early years as a kid with a rifle. I just find the sport of it so much more captivating. Getting one within bow range and you beat them at their own game is the crown jewel to me. Not to mention when the day comes (not very often sadly) that you seal the deal on a great buck…the feeling is one I have never been able to find anywhere else 😬

Not saying I will never pick up a muzzleloader or rifle ever again, but it's just not for me right now.

I get most enjoyment from bow hunting.

I get most venison from gun hunting.

I'd love to go only bow but we eat a lot of venison, and a gun makes quick easy work of it. Usually I target bucks with my bow, and I really enjoy the game of cat and mouse. I do not get much joy or excitement from does with a gun, and when I shoot a buck with a gun I'm always thinking it really would have been awesome to get him with my bow. So I try my best to get my bucks with archery.

Nailed it!

I will say the first deer I get with the muzzleloader after they've spent 6 weeks dancing around just out of bow range laughing at me feels really amazing. All subsequent gun kills are less exciting but we eat ALOT of venison every year so gun it is.

I've archery hunted exclusively for a few seasons. It got me away from sitting over fields with a rifle and into the woods. It's much easier to sit for long periods in the woods vs sitting over an empty field.

How is the feeling of killing a deer any different with the weapon you use? Ive killed deer with every legal means available and its all the same to me, dead deer ,meat in the freezer and another rack in the garage. No difference ,no matter the weapon. good luck to all no matter which weapon you choose keep those freezers full!!!

Been bow hunting 95% of the time for the last few seasons. I have never had a tremendous amount of success killing monster deer and I would not hesitate to do so with a rifle at 200 yards. However, the more deer I killed over the years the more of a less of a sense of accomplishment I actually felt. What "hunting" had I actually done? Did I get lucky and choose the right shooting house/ladder stand? When I bow hunt I have to take an accumulation of information to get myself within striking distance of one of the smartest creatures in the woods. With a rifle I don't even have to get off of my 4 wheeler.

It feels different to me when I hunt and shoot a deer at 15 yards with my bow than when I set in a shooting house overlooking 250 yards of food plot and pick which deer out of several I want to shoot out of the window. I just think it take more skill. I see many juveniles on here that kill deer at 100-200 yards so it can't be that hard vs up close with a bow.
