How long do you guys normally see White oaks acorns lasting on the ground once dropped. We got a pretty decent White oak crop but no Red oaks and with medium to high deer density I would think most of them will be ate up by mid November what do you guys think ?

Yeah what BSK said.

I've got some swamp chestnut acorns germinating in wet paper towel now. Took a couple weeks for the roots to crack the shell but they are all starting to poke out now.

I've read were White oaks rot quicker than Red oaks but are the preferred acorn .
White Oak acorns, on average, go to root around Thanksgiving. Red Oak acorns on the other hand, have a very high tannin content that lets them last until spring before going to root. That's why White Oak oak flats tend to go dead right around gun opener, while deer shift to the more bitter but unrooted Red Oak acorns.

Not near me. My primary stand is in the middle of about 12 white oaks and with the wind it was like hail raining down acorns. Doe came in for an afternoon snack. Did not enjoy the surprise she received instead...
Congrats!!! Most of my acorns have fallen and been eaten already. Seems reds & chestnut oaks aren't being hit hard yet but whites are waning.

Wow, the ground is a carpet of white oak acorns in my area. Biggest crop in years.

To be fair, I only have two large white oaks on the TN property that produce and one of the has been girdled by a beaver, so it only dropped a few this year.
Well, that makes sense. Literally 80% of the trees on my property are white oaks. We have a lot of acorns!

The other evening I hunted the place next to my property and if it's any indication to the rest of the 200 acres deer hunting is going to be a problem. I couldn't hardly walk for the acorns . There are a lot on my property too but I've only hunted two different stands don't really know about the other areas .

On my place, in pockets, there are so many acorns it's like walking on ball bearings.
