Lots of folks showing good success, so I thought I'd show a picture of one I did too. This is right at the edge of my side yard where I am pushing back the woods to expand the yard/clearing where my house is. This was a just regular bottom woods a couple years ago and I've been clearing out trees and brush, and this spring is was a jungle. It's also where a hen turkey hatched a clutch this summer. Anyway, I mowed it a time or two after poults hatched out and cleaned the trash out a bit more. Sprayed one day, threw wheat oats and crimson the next and mowed three days later. No rain for in forecast a week so I took my brush fire trailer and watered the plot with it...voila. 894DFAAE-413F-417C-8BDE-09A105FB490E.jpeg

Nice work. Glad it all worked out. What day on the calendar did you plant?
Planted on the 27th. The soil in this spot is pretty darn good for my place, so it came up real well...too bad I didn't spread it so well as there's some voids in the plot. It's not a plot for hunting necessarily but for winter food for the deer...unless the freezer isn't full, I'll let one of my girls shoot one out of it. I don't expect it to get much use until December, but we'll see.

Good deal. I was just wondering because I planted a couple days after you and we are in the relatively same area. Ours are a few days after yours. If mine are like yours when i check on Saturday, I'll be a happy man!

I'm tickled at how it looks! This spray/throw/mow method is WAY easier than working the ground, especially on small plots and around obstacles.

Tried to take a picture from the same angle to show the progress. This stuff is a foot tall now. I doubt it has had any eaten yet at all. Hopefully it doesn't get too big and tough for the deer come December/January!

Looks pretty!
It really looks way better in person. It is sooo green and it stands out like a sore thumb where it is, very lush. This spot is at the edge of my yard and was the edge of a lot landing 15 years ago. The whole way around the clearing where my house is was piled with tree tops from timber harvest and I have been burning and clearing for 5 years now, so it is plenty fertile. It's really only maybe half an acre but by this spring it should be more than double that.
