Supposedly...a bear was walking down the street in Lebanon yesterday....so said the caption with the picture on Facebook.

Bears are in MS and AL, so makes sense they would love the habitat in Wayne county and north.

Looks like a good size bear. Be interesting what TWRA says
I'm not seeing it: What's the TWRA supposed to do?

Kill the bear?
Trap and then release some where else?
Fine the game camera owners for harassing wildlife?
Recruit the bear for a new round of USFS commercials?

??????

Cannot speak for jcdeerman, but I know twra denied non native species present in places where people were seeing them. Mountain lions and alligators for example were absolutely not in this state until they were. They essentially made out the people that claimed to see them as hoaxes, or people seeing things, or fools and for me at least they seemed arrogant and dismissive of many legitimate claims. There was even an article about no lions here in a state publication. Essentially said they are NOT here, but would be good if they were, because they are the only natural predator able to kill feral hogs. Almost seemed the writer of that article had insight, and was promoting the idea as to create an acceptance.

So, with that in mind, I would be curious as to what they state will have to say about a bear or bears in middle Tennessee that are not supposed to be there, and what their expectations are. Statewide bear, is Wayne county allowed?

I don't expect TWRA to do anything and also believe they SHOULDN'T do anything. It's just a wild animal roaming about. I was just speaking in terms of TWRA confirming or denying it.....or any statement at all.

If it was a Nextdoor post in Williamson County, an argument would ensue over humanely (of course) trapping the bear and relocating it to your house in the country vs putting down a trail of honey from the suburbanite's backyard to your house in the country.

The thought of having a bear on my hunting grounds makes me a little learious. Walking up on one in the dark really makes me nervous. To me, they are like the wild hogs-I dont want them around.

Just my $0.02 worth.

I don't want bears in my hunting grounds, just like I don't want alligators or mountain lions in my hunting grounds. Don't like walking up on any of those three.

We had a bear in north Shelby county a few years ago. Had video of it in a backyard in Bartlett. A friend of mine had pics of it on a trail cam on his back 40 within a couple of days of local news showing the backyard video.
