Cumberland Hog hunting

Good day!

I hunt a lease in Cumberland County near Catoosa. Haven't seen any hogs in the area but I've seen sign of them. Anyone have luck hunting hogs in this area? If so can you give me any pointers?

Hogs are a slave to their stomachs this time of year. They are also bunched up in big sounders. Both work in your favor. Corn is like candy to a hog.

Establish a bait station in an area that hogs feel comfortable but is also easily accessible for you to hunt/shoot/trap and get bait into.

Set up a camera (a cell cam is best) so you can get an idea when they are at the bait site. They are unpredictable, but it helps to know when they typically come into the bait. That way you don't spend long nights out.

I like the plastic roller type bait station so you can hear the hog in the dark hitting it better.

They can disappear on you for a few weeks only to reappear. Lately ive been using a .223 and its doing the job so far.

Good advice so far. Before setting up feeders I would put out bait piles in different areas with sign. When cameras confirmed they were hitting the spots good I got my feeders out. It may take a little time for them to find food but they'll start hitting it regularly once they do.

Been catching the piss out of them the past 4 days, less than 15 minutes outside the Bi Color gate. 3 this morning makes 17 total. Fixin to make 75lbs of free range pork sausage in the mornin.

I have located a new sounder just recently. They seem to be very territorial. One side of the river=no hogs. The other=MUCHO hogs.
