Veteran handloaders, looking for your thoughts. I have plenty of CFE BLK from
starting to load 300BLK. I have no other powders listed for 350 LGND. Look at this load data. Why is the pressure so much lower with CFE BLK? What will the effect be? Much reduced velocity? 21,000 for a starting load of CFE BLK vs 36700 for a starting load of H110. Thanks for your thoughts.

First let me say I'm a reloader, but not a veteran reloader, so I watch/read all these to learn as much as possible. Is it because H110 is a faster burning powder? Would that be the reason for difference in numbers?

H110 is 63 on burn rate chart, CFE BLK is 70 which means BLK has slower burn rate. I would not call that a big difference. I don't know either powder, mebbe blk is extruded?

So what would the big difference in pressure listed result in? Less velocity? Or is there any correlation there? CFE BLK has an extremely small grain size.

Been educating myself. The CFE BLK is designed specifically for the 300 Blackout and particularly for subsonic use. Max loads produce piddly pressure rates, I guess I should not be surprised.

I would wager the CFE BLK would not produce accurate rounds in a 350 legend. The Blackout non-subsonic rounds are mostly in the <130 gr class. Using the Legend 180 bullet I am positive the BLK powder charge would be no where near case capacity. I cannot recall the name but t hat situation is not good.

Well that sucks. It's what I have in stock, which is a big deal these days, but sounds like I need something else.

Pressure is weird. The manufacturer figured out how to create gunpowder that has a low report. This chart is from Winchester ammo.........shows an 8 inch drop at 200 yards when zeroed at 100. Makes me think that FPS is a bit optimistic.

I went ahead and loaded a few until I can find H110, IMR 4227, Lil Gun, etc. Started at 23 gr with a 125 copper hollow point. Wouldn't cycle the bolt. I bumped on up and started getting good cycling at 26 gr with no overpressure signs. Tried in my AR and bolt gun. I need to just order a chrony.

Just picked up a 350 legend AR last week. Found some IMR 4227 today that I'm going to start out with until I can come across some LIL Gun. I've got brass, bullets, and powder. All I've got to find now are some small rifle primers that aren't $250 for a thousand lol.

DO NOT LOAD H110 or 296 Light, big difference between H and N, H loads may detonate light. DaveB depending on bullet weight, I can see that. Question, is this near a 35 Rem on an AR platform?, say it isn't so, I'm running out of reasons!!!
