Last season on this Muzzleloader

My muzzleloader is almost 20 years old. It's been a great one. Traditions Pursuit. But every year I've noticed more and more pitting in the barrel. No matter how well I cleaned it and cleaned it again in the offseason, it would get rust in the barrel. I shoot 777 and it's still an issue.

This year the barrel is pitted enough that I'd rather get a new one, but it will be after the ML season when I do.

I'm going with the Stainless barrel this time. No more rust issues.
Who has a nice, stainless barrel ML on the market these days in the $400 range?

CVA Optima or CVA Wolf. If not making much over a 100 yd shot, I would get the Wolf. I just bought one for my daughter, and it shoots excellent. There was a code for a pretty big discount in the deals forum.

If I didn't like smokeless so much my cva shot great, would head shoot a deer at 50y no problem lol

For the price of the Knight he could have a smokeless that will out shoot it, lot of good choices out there these days

What $400 smokeless would that be that will out shoot an Extreme? You will easily have over $500 in any CVA conversion and ive never seen a break action shoot any better than my Knights. Faster yes....better...yeah good luck with that.

And good luck getting in touch with Center Punch atm...i know of more than 1 person that cant get a reply from him after weeks of trying.

He isn't the only person with the knowledge and resources to do them. Buds had the cva back in the spring for some where around $250-$260 , buddy bought 1 and another buddy built it , it shoots great at 100y . wouldn't mind having 1 as its pretty short and a little better bullet selection

Last i heard the Hunter has been replaced by a blued Scout which are over $300. Hankins wants about a grand for his and does not convert yours anymore. He sells conversions he already made. Your warranty is also gone with these conversions. Lets not forget that little tidbit that could be very important to the OP. If you want to go LRMP modules vs 209 thats another $5ish per module. Another $125 or more for a sizing die if you go sabotless which is where you really start to see a nice advantage. Add about another $100 for LRMP with 25 modules instead of a 209 plug.

So i guess if the stars aline in your favor you can get into a Hunter or blued Scout converted to 209 for about $425+ total if someone is willing to do it for free. Or you can get a Knight ready to go and if you ever want a fast twist 45 you just buy the 45 1-20 barrel and swap parts yourself in under 30min. Only part that wont swap is the $16.50 Lehigh breech plug.

the Pittman bullets didn't need sizing in his gun so sabotless now with a felt wad. Haven't stretched it out but really looks promising at 75y, he no longer has to battle cleaning it in order to shoot more than 3-4 times. If I ever go back smoking I will probably go blackhorn, but no plans for now
