Man in jail after car damage report

FLORENCE — Police said a Colbert County man was jailed Monday after accusations that he damaged the car of a man who was visiting the mother of his child.

Florence police said Dennis LeeRonstadt Cole, 35, High Street, Tuscumbia, is charged with first-degree criminal mischief.

Florence police detective Shannon Harris said Cole turned himself to authorities Monday.

Cole is accused of doing more than $4,500 in damage to a 2005 BMW.

Harris said the incident reportedly happened April 17 at a Hermitage Drive residence.

“Cole went to the residence and confronted the man, trying to get him to come outside,” Harris said. “The man wouldn’t come out, so Cole took it out on the man’s car.

Cole is accused of jumping on the hood of the vehicle, breaking the windshield wipers, slashing two tires, breaking mirrors, putting deep scratches on the car and making several dents in the car.

First-degree criminal mischief is a Class C felony, which is punishable by 1-10 years in prison if convicted

Cole is out of jail on bail of $3,000."
