I hunt in Jackson county and know of 5 people by first and last name that go out every night and kill does during buck season from the road on public and private land(not their land). They make jerky out of the deer and sell it to people they know and nothing gets done about it. Why do I have to pay for a license, check my deer in, and abide by the law when these people can do whatever they want and nothing get done. My hunting partner and I have already called and talked to the local Game Warden and nothing has been done this year or last year when we reported it with the name, address, and all the information of the poacher. We always get the same answer over and over. "Well if we dont catch them in the act we cant do anything about it." If a Game Warden were to set of on Morrison Creek Road alone they would catch at least three of them. And pick any night because they do it 5 or 6 nights a week. Am I supposed to just sit back and watch the deer population get demolished because they cant be caught in the act? Is it they cant be caught or the time and effort that has to be put into catching them not worth it? If you ask me my $130+ that I paid this year to legally hunt and fish is worth the time and effort of them being caught especially if you have all of the information that you need to catch them!
