Ok...I know it is not on everyone's mind, but dove field prep season is right around the corner
OK...maybe not that close, but I am thinking about it for sure.
I have access to a piece of property that I can utilize for a dove field. A particular three to four acre spot, bordered by some pasture, woodlines, cutover on the neighboring property, nice pond with clean banks, some power lines on the road in...I will have access to a full size tractor and disk (bush hog of course as well) NO DRILL...I will have a little money to invest but not much...what are my options?
Not on this property, but in the past I have broadcast sunflowers and some millet with moderate success. Planting end of June/first of July, in the ground by July 4...also bare dirt with broadcast wheat (Foodplot)...
This doesn't have to be a Chaneylake field, but want it to draw enough and hold enough birds to hunt opening weekend, maybe one other weekend of the first split, then later season hunts when the migrators come thru...
Suggestions? LEGAL suggestions please?
