My oldest son (Bulldog),had not gotten to take a deer this year.I had taken him and his seven year old brother on the first juvenile hunt back in October. We had decided to let my youngest one have the first shot at a deer since it was his first time to actually try and harvest a deer.He hammered one the first morning. It was Bulldog's turn then, but we hunted the rest of the weekend and did'nt get a shot.We went five more times during the regular gun season with no luck.We went this past weekend and hunted all day Saturday in the rain and was able to get a look at eight does coming out into a cornfield, but they were moving too fast.He could'nt get a shot.

We were going back home Sunday morning when I ran into a neighbor and told him about our luck.He told me "bring the young man to my place and let him try"so we went late Sunday afternoon. He showed us where to hunt and we got setup and waited.

At about 5:00 pm,we had four does come out and he picked out the biggest one and hammered her.He was excited and called his mother and told her that he had just killed a deer. While he was talking on the phone,I noticed five more deer coming up the fenceline.I told him to look to the left and he told his mother that he had to go,he would call her back later. We had to wait for these deer to get out from the trees. When they did, ole Bulldog pulled the last ounce of trigger pull on his rifle and another Tennessee whitetail was down.

It was a wonderful end to an amazing year of hunting whitetails with my sons.I feel like the luckiest man in the world because I have been to heaven.I was there this past weekend.
