The hunting is this year in this part of the state for me, and the folks I know and interact with daily.

I have walked over 20 miles in the last 3 days, and have heard 1 bird gobble twice.

Something is seriously wrong with this season in the higher elevations.

I hoped it would be better this year, but it is worse then I could have ever imagined. There is butt loads of hen sign, but very very little gobbler sign. I call hens in continuously during the day, but they are all alone. Not just singles, but groups of 8-10 hens with no gobblers. Strangest thing I have ever seen.

I guess the baiters and poachers may have finally beat down the numbers to the point that this is what TN turkey hunting is going to be like.

I know myself, and about 8 others who are experiencing the silence of a lifetime. Anyone else feel alone when the sun rises each morning?
