Most major bow companies have put out a short, high-velocity bow this year. From what I have read, the DXT from Matthews seems to be getting most of the votes. Anybody have any luck with one of these sweet shooting short bows?

It depends on what you consider short ? Less than 34" ATA ? PSE makes a shorter version of the X force .
There are plenty of bows from other companies that fall into that category as well .

I would consider everything under 34 inches as a short bow. I know matthews, hoyt, and bowtech all have short bows out this year. It seems like that is where all the bows are headed. I still have my matthews mq-32 and love it.

I own a Mathews , but there are plenty of other companies with bows equally as good or better . My PSE Mach X @33" is a far better shooting bow and is more quiet , easier to setup and tune , with centershot and level lines on the riser ,as well as the ability to back the limb bolts out to relax the string without a bow press .
It's little features such as these two examples that I like in a bow company . They think outside the box , not just coming up with catchy names and making slight changes to a lineup to create the next fad bow , but to actually design a completely new bow that takes the market in a new direction with technology . That bow would be the X Force .
Bowtech is another company that is always coming up with new designs in cams and risers .

Bowtech anything.

Bowtech has a wide range of bows under 34"

I love my tribute.

The new '09 line up is sweet!

I thought Bowtech had a large recall due to cracked limbs?
May be limited to The General. Not sure.

I also shoot a Mathews, but I would suggest you shoot every bow you possible can, then make your decision on which bow is best for you.

That being said, the Mathews MQ-32 is still my favorite bow ever.

I shot a PSE for years and years but I am sold on the DXT. It is the best bow I have shot.
The BowTech General is a very nice bow also with virtually no shock, I'd check it out also.

Shoot the bow and figure out which one works best for you. Of the shorter bows, I chose the Hoyt Katera. Second and I'd love to have this bow also is a Bowtech Allegiance. I wasn't impressed with Mathews 08 lineup. I've owned two Mathews, an MQ1 and a LX. The MQ1 was a sweet bow and why they haven't tried to replicate that again is beyond me. In addition, Mathews hasn't done much besides the slim limbs. Which that gets mixed reviews!

There are a lot of good bow mfg's.today.

I wanted a DXT,but I shot the Drenalin a little better,so I bought one.
Still like the DXT. Great hunting bow.

I like the Dren slimb limbs, and it is vibration free.
Not the fastest bow.
I only shoot 60# limbs.

LCU, Mathews speed from the 60# bows was another reason I chose to look elsewhere. I've got an 08 Katera, and when I've shot with groups, everybody comments on how fast and quiet the bow is. I've had people tell me they think it's faster than their Mathews @ 70lbs. It's definitely not the fastest bow out there, but it shoots pretty darn fast, and still has some forgiveness.
