This is great but I have a question. I thought only deer taken in Tennessee were allowed on the trophy room? Allowing deer from outside the state doesn't seem quite fair?

Hook we have a BUNCH of folks who live in TN and hunt in other states. And as strange as it may seem we have a TON of folks who are regulars on the site that are from other states. We simply wanted to make it a contest for everyone that uses TNDEER. Keep in mind it is a photo contest, so a small doe from TN could win just as good as a big KY LBL buck!!
Hope this helps. DL

Folks, here are a few contest photo tips, I will post some samples later, if you would like. Contest photo tips. • Digi cams make it a lot easier to get a good shot. Take lots of them and experiment. Hopefully the photo will be something you want to keep as a memory as well as a contest entry. Take some with a flash, some without, again...experiement. • Get close, fill the viewfinder only with what you want in the frame...in fact, think of the viewfinder as a frame. If you have to explain what's in the photo, you didn't get close enough. Get close is rule no. 1, most photos are "made" simply by getting close. • Sun at the photog's back...shining on the subject. Careful with bills of caps, they often cast and unseen shadow. (Again, try some with flash.) • Take time to compose the photo...pick a spot, clear it of any obstuctions that might end up in your photo...in front of your subject, or even the appearance of a limb (behind subject) growing out your subject's head. • The best photos are taken onsite...it adds to the photo and the memory. True a lot of photos are taken on tailgates (more a matter of convenience than anything) but my bet is a contest winner is going to be taken"in the field". • Take some time to clean up your trophy, blood, mud, etc. This extra effort, likewise makes for a better pic.
Again, these are tips/pointers, not requirements...hope it helps.

Thanks very much for the tips One more that I've learned from TnDeer . Try to clean up your deer.A Bloody deer does not make the best picture. Samples would be cool.

WTHM: Exactly. I went back and added that to tips list. I have also found, along that same line, it is typically best to take the shot as soon after the kill as possible. Not only does it make for a better trophy shot, sometimes it also seems to "capture the moment" better (especially with kids). Again, just a thought.

So you only have to enter your photo in the trophy room and you're eligible?
