CANEY spoons or spinners?

Fished the Caney ealier this month and caught several bows and some browns and 1 brook on roostertails not much size though. Do spoons produce larger fish?

As far as I know, spoons are fairly inert. But if I was targeting big fish, I'd throw a 4-5 inch jerkbait.

I agree, if you go to a really large jerkbait you are probably fishing for just a few bites over the day. I like fishing a countdown on spinning tackle, it seems to catch just as many average sized fish and you can still trigger a few bigger fish as well.

On average when I fish with spoons I will catch larger rainbows and browns. But this is not by far the only lure in my arsenal.

What's up Lincoln Co Archer?
I'm a LC boy myself, just relocated to Murfreesboro... a lot closer to all the good fishin! My family still has a farm over in Cyruston which is just between McBurg and Hot Rock.
I'll tell you from my experience of fishing the Caney over the past 8 years, if you're spin fishing you need to throw a 3.5 to 4 inch suspended crank bait. I spent the first 6 years using worms and roostertails. Caught lots of fish in that time but only a few that were worthy of braggin about. Since I've started targeting the larger fish over the past year I've already landed several fish over 20 inches and bigger. Just recently I was rewarded with the biggest brown I've caught to date. It wasn't all that long at only 22 inches but it was built like a football, measuring 14 inches around. An online weight conversion estimated it to be 7.71 lbs.
As for the spoons, I've seen them work but a guy next to you fishing a jerk bait would catch more fish.
