I got an either sex turkey permit. I'm still new to turkey hunting. Do you change your style of calling in the fall? What type of calling works then.

I've heard the best way is to find a flock, bust them up, sit down and start calling a little and they'll come back. I too have never killed one in the fall but have 3 tags this year and hope to fill at least 1.

My county has an either sex fall hunt that is non-quota and to be honest I just set in the deer stand and hope they come by, works pretty well, have killed one and missed three in last three years, of course our season in archery only

absolutely. after the bust up you either try a long series of yelps or the kee kee run(prolly works better than yelps) and just wait. if you can get lucky and get the old hen out of the way the little ones will come back within about 10 minutes

I accidently discoverd this while deer hunting. Then I got a fall draw and found it works very well. You need to wait 15 to 20 minites for hens. Alittle longer for gobblers.

We all know hens are more vocal than gobblers .

Where I Fall turkey hunt there are good numbers of turkeys. My most successful way of hunting them has been to get there the evening before the hunt, I wait till I hear about 12-15 birds fly up then I act like a complete mad man. I hoot & holler & throw sticks in the trees, shine my flashlight & whatever else I can think of to scatter them birds at roosting time.

They scatter out & sit on a limb all night by theirself & the next morning they are incredibly easy to work into gun range. They've been lonely & they're looking for company. It is completely amazing how many turkey sounds you will hear from a scattered flock & don't be surprised if you hear quite a bit of gobbling as well. Yep, that's right, turkeys will even gobble in the fall.

At daylight, when they start making a few turkey sounds, I'll use clucks, yelps & purrs. After they hit the ground, I start mainly using the kee-kee run call with a few clucks & short series of yelps. 4-5 notes.

Best of luck to ya'll with your Fall turkey huntin & be SAFE!!!
