Well I tell you what. As soon as deer season is over. We will see bout getting our sponsor to do a Turkey Season and maybe even something for fishing?? Will do some checking.

This contest is in agreement with the sponsor as to what we would do. So I guess in a way we are committed on this one.

It will be a fun contest.

Simple. Go to the Trophy Room link. It can be found in the main menu as well as on the front page.
Click on it scroll down to the bottom fill in the fields, attach your photo with the browse button. And click enter.

It is VERY user friendly, even for computer ignant folks like me!! \:D

One problem.

It said, "Deer can be taken in other states."

Then, "Only photos submitted via the Trophy Room will be accepted."

How do we post a picture in the of a deer taken in another state??

My understanding of it is Bass Pro wants to allow deer from other states in the contest. Say some TnDeer members hunt in Ill or Ky and wants to post pictures in the contest but cannot.

Wildcat, I think they have a totally different 'room' set up for all the entrys into this contest. They had you guys that live on the state lines, and hunt out of state in mind when this decision was made.
But then again, I've been wrong before.
Maybe DL will pop back in with a fuller explaination.

You are right TNDOE we have a lot of Tennessee hunters that hunt in KY,MS,AL,MO. For example, if you don't live in TN but live across the line in KY and hunt in KY yet you want to submit one to the contest. Just put the info in your "story" where you killed the deer and pick a county doesn't really matter. ALL photos will show up with the '08/'09 harvest date on them and that is how we will know which ones are in the contest.

Hope this cleared up the question some.

*** UPDATE UPDATE to Trophy Room and Contest ***

We have now added a new "Out of State" category to the Trophy Room so you can enter deer harvested other than in the great State of TN.

You can now search for out of state pictures as well.

Also, we added a check box to click on if you want your photo entered in the contest. If you don't check this, your picture sill goes into the trophy room as always, but your phot will NOT be entered for the prizes. So be sure and check the "Enter Picture in Bass Pro Shops contest" check box if you want a change to win!

There is also a new search at the top so you can view the contest entries only as well.

Good luck!

This is great but I have a question.
I thought only deer taken in Tennessee were allowed on the
trophy room? Allowing deer from outside the state doesn't seem quite fair?

Hook we have a BUNCH of folks who live in TN and hunt in other states. And as strange as it may seem we have a TON of folks who are regulars on the site that are from other states. We simply wanted to make it a contest for everyone that uses TNDEER. Keep in mind it is a photo contest, so a small doe from TN could win just as good as a big KY LBL buck!!

Hope this helps.

Folks, here are a few contest photo tips, I will post some samples later, if you would like.
Contest photo tips.
• Digi cams make it a lot easier to get a good shot. Take lots of them and experiment. Hopefully the photo will be something you want to keep as a memory as well as a contest entry. Take some with a flash, some without, again...experiement.
• Get close, fill the viewfinder only with what you want in the frame...in fact, think of the viewfinder as a frame. If you have to explain what's in the photo, you didn't get close enough. Get close is rule no. 1, most photos are "made" simply by getting close.
• Sun at the photog's back...shining on the subject. Careful with bills of caps, they often cast and unseen shadow. (Again, try some with flash.)
• Take time to compose the photo...pick a spot, clear it of any obstuctions that might end up in your photo...in front of your subject, or even the appearance of a limb (behind subject) growing out your subject's head.
• The best photos are taken onsite...it adds to the photo and the memory. True a lot of photos are taken on tailgates (more a matter of convenience than anything) but my bet is a contest winner is going to be taken"in the field".
• Take some time to clean up your trophy, blood, mud, etc. This extra effort, likewise makes for a better pic.

Again, these are tips/pointers, not requirements...hope it helps.

Taylor

One more that I've learned from TnDeer . Try to clean up your deer.A Bloody deer does not make the best picture.

Samples would be cool.

WTHM: Exactly. I went back and added that to tips list. I have also found, along that same line, it is typically best to take the shot as soon after the kill as possible. Not only does it make for a better trophy shot, sometimes it also seems to "capture the moment" better (especially with kids). Again, just a thought.

Contestants (and/or winners, depending on your confidence level at this point, lol),

A couple of more tips:
It is doubtful a cam-phone photo will win it, not that you can't enter these pix, but more than likely you will need better quality to win.
Emotion in a photo and added scenery can make all the difference in the world. If you do add scenery in a photo, you probably want to frame it horizontally. (Again, just tips/suggestions.)

And while none of the following are big on scenery, they do show the "get close" and "fill the frame with your subject" notion. There are some nice bucks in a few of these photos, but as mentioned, this is not a trophy contest, but a photo contest. A few sample photos, are as follows: (of special interest is the guy in the Redhead cap is tndeer's own Bottom Hunter!). — taylor

one big tip: CLEAN YOUR DEER.
not only that, but clean the blood from yourself, your equipment and surroundings in the photo. A CLEAN photo is appreciated by all.

**note, we are all hunters and are used to the 'blood & guts' of hunting, but the nonhunting world isn't. Someone that is blood squimish won't be turned off by trophy shot if the bright red stuff is missing in the photo. IMO
