I fished my first day tourney last weekend since may. Caught some early on jigs but that slowed down early. Fished deep all day on bluffs, but didn't catch many. I was wondering what everyone else is tackleing them with right now, before the fall transition.

I fished yesterday and havent been to this lake in about 5-6 weeks. Last time I was there, the water temp was 90 degrees. Yesterday, it was 75-77. I had been catching all my fish on points and channels in 18-20 ft of water, but when I saw the drop in the water temp, I didn't even try to fish deep because that told me the transition was gonna be underway with fish migrating to the creeks and coves to shallower water. Boy was I right. I caught around 10 in the first couple hours mostly in 10 ft. of water or less. I still caught fish on the same points that I was fishing real deep, only they were up shallower on the points. I was also catching fish in the mouths of coves on medium running crankbaits like the Bandit 200 series that go 4-8 ft. deep. Most of the fish I caught were in about 7-8 ft of water in the mouths of coves, but there was deep water close by such as a point or channel coming into the cove. On the points I was using a 4 inch finesse worm, Texas-rigged with an 1/8 oz. bullet weight, and in the mouths of the coves near the channel, I was throwing the crankbait in a khaki/bone color. Seems to me they've started to transition some where I fish, but this is a smaller lake that's only 320 acres, so it will cool off a bit faster.

Topwater in deep water 50 ft plus over structure(solitary flooded trees) early in the morning. The same kind of structure throughout the day also, hit it with topwater, flukes, 1/16 ounce tubes, heavy spinnerbaits, carolina rigs. Basically work every bit of the 50 ft of structure.

buzz baits and spinnerbaits. They are liking the small 1/8 oz. buzzbaits for me at Tims Ford.

I've been fishin back in coves over the last month, and haven't even tied anything on besides topwater and absolutely wore them out. This summer was my best year by far. Most of the fish have been small, but catchin fish is catchin fish to me. I love it all.
I did go to watts bar n fish below the Telico locke Tuesday. I threw a jig for the first time on bluffs and not the first nibble. Also expiremented with that wacky rig for the first time....not my cup of tea.
