I like a lot of fishermen are looking at the SIs, those of you that have them , do you recommend them.. from what I have been reading in otehr places it doesnt look too good. Which one would you recommend, the 797 at $1000 , the 997 at $2000 or the 1197 at $3000. Really I think I am between the 797 and the 997. Or should I wait until the new models come out and and see if maybe the competitors offer up some new choices? Thanks for any help.
The lakes I fish are not deeper than 30 feet if that makes a differnce, also is the NVB worth the extra few hundred dollars.
I will be fishing West Tenn around Jackson, and the Tn River around Parsons.

I have fished in boats that had them and it is simply amazing, also the Navionics cards are spot on, many lakes are mapped at 1' intervals now. I don't know when other manufacturers will be able to come out with SI units, from what I've heard HB has got it protected pretty well. I think the Humminbird/Navionics package is a pretty good option if you're going to be fishing in more than one region.
Missed it by that much....

I have the 797 and like it alot although I haven't got to fish much this year... The 797 has a smaller screen and the resolution is not quite as high-definition as the 997 - but at half the price I'm not gonna complain.

Here are some photos I took with it...

This is Wolftever bridge on Chickamauga Lake, the boat was traveling under the bridge out onto the lake. You can see the bridge pilings, you can also see the rubble piles where they drilled for the pilings. The rip-rap is also clearly visible. The "C" shaped objects near the top are the old bridge abutments from before the lake was flooded.

This is an old road bed and bridge abutment over the old creek channel from prior to flooding the lake. With the different angle you can see more of a 3-D image...
